FOUR KIDS TRAPPED IN A COLLAPSED BUILDING IN LAGOS , NIGERIA


Two Storey Building Collapses In Lagos

Another sad event has occurred Yesterday , 24th of April  at 11am as a two-storey building  which was under construction on Sea Beach lane at Oworonsoki, a suburb in Lagos state,Nigeria collapsed .

This left 10 victims which were 4 children who were assistants to the construction workers and 6 adults with various  degrees of injury.

Vanguard eyewitness, Miss Blessing Atoyebi said: “I heard a loud bang and all I saw was that the entire building had collapsed on the workers. While some escaped unhurt, others are still trapped under the debris. I can’t say the number of people under the rubble but I know that those in the building were working on the structure.”

The ten victims of the disaster were trapped under the rubble for a few hours after the collapse before emergency agencies came to their rescue. The victims were immediately rushed to General Hospital Gbagada for treatment….

NO SMOKING BILL SIGNED INTO LAW IN LAGOS STATE , NIGERIA + FINES


Finally , the Governor of Lagos State , Fashola has signed the No Smoking in Public Places Bill into law. So it is now illegal to lit a cigarette in public places or you risk a 3-year jail term . DEATH TOLL INCREASES FROM THE COLLAPSED BUILDING IN VICTORIA ISLAND , LAGOS


A 4-storey building collapsed yesterday at Muri Okunola  killing at least four construction workers, the Red Cross said, and leaving around 50 workers trapped inside the rubble, according to witnesses.

The site workers were said to be working on the building on Muri Okunola Street, Victoria Island, Lagos, when it gave way.

The artisans, who were caught unaware by the collapse, which happened around 3.30pm, could not escape out of the building before it came down.

BRIDGE COLLAPSES ALONG APAPA-OSHODI EXPRESSWAY


It was a scary event as part of the  pedestrian bridge at Alaba Bus stop was pulled down by a passing tipper lorry. This caused serious traffic on the motor-road.

Motorists groaned for several hours in the chaotic traffic situation on the road caused by collapsed portions of the expressway, with the rubble of the collapsed bridge obstructing movement

FIRE RAZES DOWN TWO BUILDINGS AT APAPA


Petrol Depot Explodes In Apapa, Claims Two Buildings

Another Fire Disaster in Lagos as a Petrol depot (storage) tank in Apapa, Lagos exploded emptying its contents. The flame  fast spreading toward buildings, and is razing a 2 & a 3-storey building – 12 &14 Edmor street respectively by Wilmer Crescent, Olodi Apapa in Lagos . NEMA officials have begun evacuating occupants of the buildings.
