Patoranking started his showbiz dream as a dancer, dancing to all kind of music especially ghetto made music and dance hall vibes in street jams, carnival, gigs and also appeared in some local musical videos.

He switched from dancing to miming and rapping in school and with friends in the ghetto going by the name Patorico,

In an interview he reveals how he derived his name

Patoranking was given to me by a certain Jamaican artist I was fortunate to meet at the Alpha Beach in Lagos. He was playing his guitar and I was singing to his rhythm. He was impressed with the way the music was flowing. He later asked for my name and I told him “Patorico” and he jokingly asked if I was from Puerto Rico and I laughed. He said: “from now on, you shall be called Patoranking”. It was like a name ordained from the Jamaican realm to me and I claimed it immediately. Ranking in Jamaica means “highly respected”. Due to his respect for my flows, he decided to add ranking to “Pato” which was my initial nickname.

He started his musical career by doing collaborations with Xproject, Konga and other artist etc.

In 2003, he joined a six man Afro hip hop group known as Da Flavour Squad as the youngest member of the group; he was the lead vocalist. He left the group later to pursue a solo career and later pitched his tent with Dancehall and Reggae Music which have influenced him from day one.

they performed in a lot of shows within and outside Lagos, Patoranking grew up listening the likes of Buju Banton, Bob Marley, Fela, Shakar Demus and Plies to mention a few.

In 2010 he began his solo career under K-solo’s label “K-solo Music” where he released more than three tracks “So Nice”, “Anything Goes”, “Jolly” and “Hold am” and some others. Having gained more grounds in the music label he was signed, in 2013 he signed unto Timaya’s “Dem Mama” records.

After the successful debut single ‘Alubarika’ featuring Timaya, Patoranking had music lovers and followers requesting for the song on music charts, radio shows and so on.

In february 2014 he then signed a record deal with Fostin Musik through which he released his single “Girlie O” which brought about his fast rise to fame in the Nigerian music industry including mine. and ended his affiliations with Dem Mama Records. The single was produced by WizzyPro and the music video for the song was shot and directed in London by Moe Musa. In the music video, Patoranking liberates his next door neighbor from domestic violence by expressing his innate feelings to her.

Foston Musik released “Girlie O Remix” on 19 May 2014 to critical acclaim. The song features vocals from Mavin Records’ first lady Tiwa Savage. It debuted at number 9 on MTV Base’s Official Naija Top 10 chart. Tiwa Savage told Ehiz of the aforementioned chart show that she admires Patoranking music and decided to reach out to him to do the remix.

The music video for “Girlie O Remix” was also shot and directed in London by Moe Musa. On 1 April 2014, Seyi Shay released her single “Murda”, featuring Patoranking and Shaydee. The song was produced by Dokta Frabz. On May 11, 2014, the music video for “Murda” was uploaded onto Vevo. It was directed by Meji Alabi for JM Films.

During an interview with Toolz on NdaniTv’s The Juice, Timaya said that Patoranking left his label and was never officially signed

Patoranking singles are currently rocking the airwaves in Nigeria and Ghana at the moment,He was featured on track 5 of Durella’s latest album (Reconfigurated) titled EXPIRE alongside Lord of Ajasa

PATORANKING AND TIMAYA

He confirmed his move from Dem Mama Records while speaking to HipHop world Magazine confirming that his newly acquired 2014 Range Rover SUV and an apartment at the Metro Garden in Lekki, were courtesy of Foston Musik, his new Label.

“Yes, it’s mine; it’s my record label that got it for me o! Foston Musik,” the 24-year-old said.

He has brought back the reggae spirit which went on the low .He has combined reggae and dancehall successfully bringing back reggae to the music industry.

Patoranking has a unique style of his kind of music. His songs are all danceable and famous mostly at night clubs and parties.
My kind of music is quite unique. I play dancehall music, otherwise known as Reggae dancehall with modern instrumentations.

I have chosen to distinguish myself from my peers with a unique way of communicating socio-political issues through danceable music. It is a kind of dancehall music that teaches moral lessons, and I have observed that it has been widely accepted by the people in the society. This is due to the ghetto activities we have everywhere, even in mature environments. There are many ghetto youths who have made it through music against all odds.

Patoranking has songs for everyone  ranging from the poor masses, the rich, the average  etc. Some are international His music  is for everyone, irrespective of your age, class or status. In his song titled “Iya Bisi” he infused dancehall with Fuji music which came out well.
What makes you unique from other artists?

My background. I am a product of my environment and that has help built my style in time. My environment plays a big role in my style of music. We have a lot of talents, so you need to be unique to stand out. I have imbibed that mindset, and it has become part of my music.

He sees himself stepping into the shoes of Mavado, one of the best reggae-dancehall acts in Africa. Patoranking stated in an interview that he would love to work with producers such as Sarz, Don Jazzy, Sossick, Cobhams, Jay Sleek and artists like Mavado, Busy Signal (Jamaica), D’banj, 2Face and Wizkid among others.

One more thing Patoranking is not just a kid or a youngster but he is also a father according to some sources(prove if not true pls). On social media  he wrote;

Rapharanking to the world…happy kid…with God and I, u ain’t gat no worries Bro…#whayasay!!!

Because we are happy! Happy!! Happy!!! Happy times wiv Rapharanking #whayasay!!
