BREAKING NEWS: PLANE CRASH IN LAGOS , 20 DEAD
20 people confirmed dead already as A 30-seater passenger plane has crashed shortly after take-off from Lagos airport in Nigeria, officials and eyewitnesses say. The plane was bound for Akure in the south-west of the country, a spokesman for the Nigerian Airspace Management Agency told AFP. The engine failed and it crash-landed and burst into flames, Supo Atobatele was quoted as saying.
A witness said the crash occurred at the local wing of the airport close to the section were JET-A1, plane fuel, is stored.
Fire service officials were seen evacuating the occupants of the plane.

The spokesman of the Nigeria aviation agencies, Yakubu Datti, asked for more time to get details of the incident.
But another official, who asked not to be named because he was not authorised to speak on the matter, said the crashed plane belonged to Associated Airlines, and was just about to take off when the accident occurred.
The plane, our FAAN source said, was on its way to Akure. An unconfirmed report has said that the plane was carrying the corpse of late former Governor of Ondo State, Olusegun Agagu.
It is not yet clear if there was any casualty.
